Both are nice cars, but I have a feeling you will enjoy being in the Audi for long periods of time more than the VDub.

I'm liking the R32 since I'm partial to cars that enjoy the twisty back roads.

1. Which car is reliable? (You do not want problems in backwoods Maine with no cell service) 2. Is the car livable for 3 days of driving? (May not be as important with the second hotel this year) 3. Which car is more fun on the open back roads?
#3 would be a fun one to watch you and your buddy duke it out because it looks like you both have some well rounded cars. LOL

1) right now the R32 is ... we are still working on putting his motor back in the chassis. But when his motor is back in it should be fairly even. Neither of us really have enough modifications to make them "unreliable."
2) Both. I have done 2 trips down to Tenn/NC (Tail of the Dragon) in the R32 in one stint (each) with no problems. The s4 has made a few trips to Maryland Ocean City with no problems either.
3) Unless he gets suspension and tires by august then the R32 is more fun on the open back roads. The s4 is slightly faster / quicker but i was amazed about how well the R32 handled Tail of the Dragon and Hell-bender Route 28 with my new set up.
My guess is we will end up taking the S4. Because i think it will be more convenient having a sedan with a really comfortable interior.

Personally, Id take the R32. I run my gli on pss9's - love them, super comfortable, awesome performance, and car feels planted 100% of the time. from my experiences, the interior experience in the R and a B5 audi is pretty comparable....not like you are talking about a 11K car v. a 30k car off the shelf.
just my opinion, but do what makes you happy. and whatever decision you make, own it.

That wasnt the S4 that was involved in the incident down in O.C during last years H2O?
I would suggest the R32, due to the ease of driving and how well that platform does on both highways and twisty's.

no it was my buddy's R. Yeah, it was a crappy situation. Well he had to pull the engine to get the frame straightened and we just got it back in a few days ago. He had an OEM Euro B5 RS4 front bumper laying around so hes gotta paint that and have it fitted and then a new windshield and it will be good as new.

You wouldnt happen to know s2the4 would you? Just remembered that screen name. Cyress right? I know him, i got a ride in his s4 down at waterfest one year before the MRC tune. In-fact i think it was running a ko3 and a ko4 at the time, could be wrong. You probably know my buddy Jon, with the BAT A4 with gold J-Line wheels?

Yep, good old Cyrus. Was Jon cruising down with everyone on Thursday night last year to H2O? I was Cyrus's co-driver for the ride down to H2O, due to some complications in CT.
Talk about a small world.

we cruised down to Whippany NJ thursday night last year to meet up with the dagball rally.
Small world indeed. Just out of curiosity, were you the one with the blue b6 s4?
