So last year nobody would actually do it.. So I figured maybe try again this year..
Anybody willing to join the GPS free crew? Maps only... No GPS's...
Who wants to do it? Anybody? I know GPS's won't take us to all of the destinations... But I figured... Lets do it the old school way...
Sean... Wanna give some kind of incentive/prize to go GPS free? ;D

I could see being in to that, I was planning on going with maps and gps. I'd have to talk to my co-driver.... mmm the only thing is I really want to have the data from the gps on speed, location, distance, times, etc. for post rally info. Would it be acceptable to have a gps in the car collecting data but like in the back window or someplace out of reach? And we promise not to use it?

Your prize for not using a GPS is that you make it to the checkpoint.
I'm willing to bet that you will see "searching for connection" for a good percent of the run lol

I'm not looking for any extra prizes just another challenge ScrapinSTi would you be ok with it if we had a GPS running and recording data but not guiding us?

Yeah... Its all about the honesty... I'll have to ask Dmitry if he cares... But I'm the typical right seat guy... So he probably won't care.. Think its time to invest in some more maps... I've got my spiral Atlas, and a detailed one of CT... maybe its time to hit up the TA's and pickup some off the wall maps.

I think we should have checkpoints like on Bullrun. Ex., a checkpoint in the lot of "Joe's Diner" in East BumF#&k, Maine. No address....you have to figure it out when you arrive at the town.

Yea I talked to my co-driver and we are up for it even if no one else does it. Maps just make the thing way more fun than having some woman telling us to "in .5 miles turn left on cummingham road....in 500 ft turn left on cummingham rd...in 100 ft turn left on cummingham rd...turn left on cummingham rd....recalculating.....in .5 miles make a U-turn"
But we are going to have the GPS collecting data and there in case of emergencies... I can navigate the open road pretty well... but I might want the gps if there is any Boston driving, I'm not prepared for navigating that with just some AAA maps I don't think.

I mentioned this to Sean last year... I'd love this.. Although with cell phones w/ internet it makes things alot easier.. But I'm really hoping Sean does some stuff like this...
