Went to the track day @ Quonset Point RI Aristrip today. It was a great time and well worth the $125 fee for 6 hours of track time (11:30-5:30). It was a cone course (set up and maintained by the staff so you don't have to reset anything). It's set up on a course that's over 1 mile long with various tight sections... some stretches that I was running wide open in 4th gear (out of 5), (so thats 90-100+ mph). They even had a Gymkhana style section on the back straight where you run trough a slalom, then do a 360 deg turn in the middle of the back straight, it then shoots you out to a final slalom, then some esses to the finish. This would be a great location to let the drivers stretch the legs of their cars without worrying about getting pinched by Johnny Law. These guys teach the cops how to drive, as well as anti-terrorist forces, body-guards, etc... www.1ADSI.comThey need 10 cars to have an event, so that shouldn't be a problem for NERally Sorry, I didn't get many pics of today's event. ....spent too much time driving : ) It was a great day, but a hot one. Here's some shots of the lead out to the start and some of the pit area. I didn't know before today that we had to actually travel aross the active Quonset Point airstrip to get to the course. It was kind of cool driving on the runway past the Air National Guard airlift planes and Army BLackhawk helicopters in route to the course, while being lead out by airport staff.

I want some track time too, but I want a Louden type of track lol. The only suck part of that is the price tag that goes with it.

Sean I completely agree, however, unless you piggyback the rally on top of some existing scheduled driving event, the costs would be completely unaffordable. Most track events are $225-$350 per day depending on location and what's included. Many tracks are booked several seasons in advance. Some like Lime Rock are real pains to deal with. This one deals with Louden, NHMS www.comscc.org/events/

Actually Sean I decided against track events mid rally. When we went to NED we lost 3 cars due to breakdowns. I felt bad that not only did they lose out on the $ they paid for the event and their car is broke, but they need to figure out how to get their car home. If they happen to be from far away they are screwed.
The rally cross may work though, but there is still a chance of breaking your car and not being able to finish the rally. That would suck.
Still... it's an option and I do like the idea. I think it woud be fun.
