I think you should take that hotel link off the site, if they "sponsored this" then that was kiinda shitty. I gave them 2 cell phone numbers to call when our room was ready they never called we didnt get in our room til like 5 when i asked if it was ready shes like yeah its ready heres your key, every other time i asked they would just say "If we didnt call its not ready" then what they gave away the fallsview rooms? aye, not to mention we put our names in to the hotel at 6am

Ya there were a few issues, but you arriving at 6am was your own fault. a lot of teams left the VT checkpoint 2 hours before you were supposed to. I understand that you guys asked the checkpoint chick if you could leave and she said yes, but she is the checkpoint chick. Her job is to register you guys in and give you cards. I'm the one that says leave. Oh well.. It was a misunderstanding that will not happen again.
At the welcome speach I'll be spelling things out for people and giving more "rules". This way there will be less chances for issues.
Everyone knew that the rooms would not be ready till 4pm. The minute I mentioned that they were getting rooms ready at 11am a LOT of people took that as their room would be ready at 11 and started getting agrivated when they weren't. Instead of going and doing something for a few hrs people just stood around getting hot and impatient.
We had a few things planned for VT that would have kept everyone there long enough to make it to Niagara and have a minimal wait.
Ya I was a bit sour about the falls view rooms issue. A few people did get falls view though so they didn't screw us ALL lol.
All in all there were a couple issues, but nothing tragic so I consider it something that I will do everything to prevent next year. Unfortunately I have to trust that the sponsors will give us what they say.
I hope the minor issues were not enough to ruin your time with us. And I sure hope you are going to run with us again.

Eh shit happens. I figure it this way, this is still a work in progress. The logistics of doing this by yourself is bloody amazing!
So a few things didn't go as planned, not enough race tickets for the track (or tickets at all till we called Sean), hotel was nice, I would have rather had the side I had so I could see my car!
I still thing that it is amazing that you pull this off.

it was okay, but the schedule says arive early saturday morning to niagra falls, 6 or 8 doesnt really matter when the rooms wont be ready til 4, i had no idea the rooms would be ready at 4 until i got there and expected to be able to sleep. if i got there at 6:30 or 8 with other people it wouldnt have really changed anything i just hope next time when we get to our hotel we will be able to sleep. Its hard to go out and do stuff and enjoy it when your that tired. Im still glad i went, it was a fun drive ....

Oh, and the hotel wasn't necessarily a sponsor. We had to pay for all the rooms, but they gave a discount and gave us free parking which would have been $20 per vehicle.

Yes, it said you would arrive early Saturday morning, but I had plans for everyone. A break in VT and we would have arrived at Niagara around 10am. We would have done the cards and checked in then gone for a few group photos and lunch. That would have eaten up till about 12. Rooms were starting to get handed out at 11:15am and we had about 10 or so ready by 11:30. If we had to wait a little while it would have not been as big of an issue if people were on the schedule I had planned for us. Oh well lesson learned. The welcome speach will now include "Don't leave a checkpoint until I say you can. Don't ask my checkpoint girls anything. They are there to register you in and give you cards. NOTHING more. If you want to leave a checkpoint you ask ME! I figured people would not be so anxious to leave VT with such a long ride behind and ahead of them so I didn't figure on people leaving before they were told by ME that they could go. Oh well... lesson learned. Now I know that I have to spell things out or that leaves room for people to make decisions. We can't have that lol

What about talking to SWIFT Motorsports for sponsorship next year. They're usually really supportive of things like this. If you need their number let me know. Matt and Geoff would love the publicity as well.

Now that the rally is over ... We were going to stop there for a checkpoint this year, but I got informed that we needed to be at NED earlier than we first planned so I had to pick a place closer to the start location.
They were about 30 minutes beyond the time I wanted to go for our first checkpoint. That would have added another hr to the checkpoint.
Geoff is a great guy though. We talked a few times and Karoline and I drove down and I talked to him for a little bit.
We don't have any tuners as sponsors for 2008 yet. Martel was for the 2007 rally and that is over so I do have a spot open for a shop. If they are interested the sooner they get on board the more bang the get for their buck because they will be on the site for a year. (Sponsors can be removed the day after the rally) and as soon as the sponsors sign on board I start swapping out stickers on my car. Martel will be there until someone jumps on board.

I didn't realize just how late the rooms were actually expected to be ready. I know we didn't get called until 2 or so. I think we'd be better off finding a place that can make arrangements to have hotel rooms available early though. Although that was a nice place, I preferred last year at the Presque Isle Inn. We got there, and they had us in rooms in no time. We all got a much needed few hours of sleep, but we woke up in the afternoon with plenty of time to eat, hang out, and party.
Now that I have a little more sleep, I can see how you had things planned out, but I think a lot of us were dead tired and the only thing on our minds was finding our way into beds. After being awake and driving for so long, I know we didn't have the energry to be wandering around the area exploring. I'd rather get to a hotel early in the morning, sleep until the early afternoon, and then get back up for dinner and whatever local activities we want.

It's tough to find a hotel that can check you in before 3. Presque Isle is in the middle of NOWHERE. We could always go back there and check in at any time we want... Even 5am lol
When you are in a popular place that sells out they have to let people check out and they then have to get rooms ready. So I either have to keep you on the road longer or let you relax around the area.
It's the price you pay for staying in a civilized place. lol
