sounds about right When I got mine from Radarbusters they gave me a free install card that I could take to my local car sterio installer for a free install. No hassle at all when I dropped it off.

So i'll be bringing the Bearcat scanner again this year... only instead of the crappy worthless window antenna, a coworker that is big into scanners just loaned me a magnetic base, and a 11" cellular style antenna, 11" straight antenna, and a 40" dual stage thingie whip antenna, along with a scanner guide book with all of the frequencies of every state...

Hey Everyone, This is my first rally and am wondering about the CB and scanner. I will have 2 ways for car to car but how important are the CB's and Scanners?
I know the scanner is supposed to help for police traffic but its tough to stomach $400 for a scanner these days. Is it really worth it?
I'll have a decent amount of other tools on board but those are the ones i had questions about.

If you dont do a ton of rallies, i wouldn't really stomach it... Just stay with other cars and be safe...

+2. I had a detector & two laser scramblers (1 front, 1 rear) and still got two tickets whereas several others without even a radar detector got "0".... Just drive safe and alert and you'll be fine : ) Last year we had a few stirring up the local PD's along the way by driving erratically and hanging out of cars, etc.... Hopefully that's behind us for this year.

lol thats because we hit the bee hives with sticks and ran lol, but the scanner is a lot of money but if you dont do this all the time then more than likely not worth it, i bought a 550.00 dollar one and i love it save me and three other cars yesterday afternoon, I have a CB and and dales two way wich will be returned this year at the end promiss. Useing my girls GPS she has a nice trafic updater to avoid areas before you get there, Dave will be bringing the V1 and a few other goodies

Wait a minute, I hope that the people hanging out of cars is not referring to handing off of food between 2 cars at high rates of speed, saw a twizler or something...
I will be bringing some GPS units as well, my 2 ways and a bag full of goodies...
And of course most important of all a white board...
