Hey guys.
Godfather here....2006 Hyundai Tiburon....some mods, nothing major like sc.
Contemplating about going for my first time....but without trying to sound cheap....why the 600 bucks? what's it go toward if we are just cruising and I can do that for free?
Looks like fun, just the money isssue I'm wondering about

You're paying for the events, money towards the winner, hotel room, etcetc as well as a donation to charity. It's a really good time, and compared to other rallys is the cheapest around NER really becomes a big family instead of just a bunch of people competing.

Saturday night hotel stay for 2 people, dinner at the hotel for 2 people, there will be a stop during the run where we will have an event and food. Your entry in that is covered as well as food at the ending.
You get your money worth. I promise you that.

I can backup Sean on this one. I actually thought $600 was cheap, so I spent my extra money on gadgets for the ride.

The NER is like one big family. This will also be my first time on the NER, so I have not meet any in person yet, but everyone on the forums is very nice.
NER is only $600 - AKA = $3,000+ and Gumball = $50,000+. I have been on several smaller rallies that cost anywhere from $400 to $1000 and none of them bring anything to the table like the NER offers; none of them were 3 days long either.
Another thing I like about the NER is the fact you can drive whatever you got and no one acts like they are above you. No one pulls up beside you and flips you off while revving their Ferrari 599, just because you are driving a honda or something like that. The NER is open to anyone.
On another note, that pic of Dale is right above my POV and Its cracking me up. Im glad I am not the only one with rally head gear, with mine being a kangaroo hat. I will find a pic of said head gear and post it later.

"Are you staring at my headgear???" Godfather... I have done this rally 2 years in a row, and it is worth every penny and then some.. Here is what your $600 got you last year. Entry into the rally including stickers for your car. Lunch at the starting point Dinner @ Hooters the first night. A hotel for 2 in Downtown Boston the 2nd night. A dinner at Fire & Ice in downtown boston, paid in full (except for drinks/alcohol) A lunch at the finish on Day 3. Entry for the poker run (I believe the winners got $1500ish? Not totally sure). Memories that will last you a lifetime. The chance to brag about having more expensive tickets than the rest of the people on the rally's tickets combined. I think thats a majority of it... But there is more i know i'm forgetting...

Mah Headgear! I put the order in last week. No one wants to mess with a man wearing a chipmunk on his head.

....finish trophies and many prizes awarded at the finish as well. There's no prize for 1st, all prizes (including cash purse and SWAG) are through a raffle system (to discourage speeding/aggressive driving). THat said, you still have to be mindfull of your speed because last year the local PD was all over us like flies on poop! It's a great group to see some awesome roads with, share some great stories, stay at 4 star hotel, and party like a rock star : )

Second I believe get's free entry the following year.

This year the winning poker hand will get their entry fee refunded.
I'm doing away with the cash prize for the poker hand for a number of reasons, but for the time being that's the way it has to be.
After a few more runs I will be able to do a large cash prize again. We need to be a charitable organization for 5 years in order to have games of chance. Unfortunately I was informed that we can be considered a game of chance if we offer cash as any form of compensation to a "winner". So if I do away with the cash compensation and refund the entry. That will cover that.
After a few more years we will be all set, but for now we will do the raffle for sponsor supplied goodies, but cash has to be put on hold.
I liked the raffle system. That worked out well. And we can also do the 50/50 again as well because that is a seperate thing. It's just the cash "prize" that has to be put on hold.

You only have to pay for gas, tolls and if you want food on the road. We will have a dinner at the hotel, lunch at the start and the end. We will have some food options during the chosen event as well. I'm working on that and it should be settled by the end of the month.
