4 steps ahead of ya stickman!!!! We got the stuff to put my compaq laptop in the car. Also check this out www.autonetmobile.com - I am ordering one...once I get the money lol. Bavarian Autosport sells it for $429.00 and that is the cheapest price that I have seen. Its on page 74 pf their spring catalog. I cant find it on their website, but give them a call and they will take care of everything.

Very slick, man. I don't do enough long-distance driving for it to be worth the money yet, but who knows... it would simplify things greatly!
What kind of mount setup (if any) do you have for the laptop?

No mounts, but I have a few strips of velcro on the side of the center console. Just to keep it out of the way. I have a power inverter that I have to install under the passenger seat. I didnt want anything permanent and I wanted something that could be moved from car to car. My cousin has a laptop mount in his F-350. I didnt see where it was attached. I will ask where he got it when I see him next. As for the autonet, I travel enough to get good use out of it. I can also use it for rallies to post info and stuff. Its just one of those neat things that would be fun to have. I wont be installing everything until my hand heals up and that means I will be bored for a little bit

The cleat seems pretty good and the price is not bad either. its $54 here www.filmtools.com/cleatsuccamm.htmI personally have never used it, however I saw one something like it in one of Mischief series movies and it seemed to hold up. Its not too expensive and there seems to be alot of people using it. Amazon has good reviews of it, but one person says that it flexes a bit. The others said it held it very still. I did find one called "The Gripper" on Amazon and it had awesome reviews, but it is double the price at $99. I dont have any experience with them, so I cant really say if they are truly up to the task. The reviews seem good on both of them, so I say go for it. I wouldnt mind picking one up myself.

The danm "0"'s are too close to the "9"s on my keyboard : ) Number pad on the right of the keyboard keeps the left hand free.

I picked up the cleat camera mount from FilmTools.com. I like it. Seems pretty sturdy. I made a recording and uploaded it to Streetfire. www.filmtools.com/cleatsuccamm.htmlI didn't really edit the video much so no need to watch past a couple minutes. I really wanted to see how the mount and camcorder would take down-shifts, bumps, and the elements. I was impressed and look forward to recording cruises. My only problem is that i dont have much windshield space to mount it. I have to mount it upside down in the top right passenger corner. It has a 30 gig hd (about 6+hours in med quality) so it shouldn't be a problem recording between checkpoints and then uploading to the laptop.

I'm going to have to try making a homemade camera mount... cameras use a standard 1/4-20 bolt for mounting, so with some cheap bar stock and nuts and bolts, it would be easy to whip something up!
Probably my next electronics project on the Ion will be to run override switches for the radiator fan and intercooler pump. When I go to the drag strip, the car heatsoaks like crazy just sitting there. I'd like to be able to turn the car off, and run the cooling system to bring intake temps back down to under 100 degrees. Just wiring, fuses, relays, and some nice switches should do the trick.

Don't forget to use something to minimize vibration, otherwise the picture will look like you're driving in an earthquake.
