So I wanted a map light for the rally car... But I wanted both red & white so there is a bright light when off stages, and a non distracting light when on stages.... I wanted something that could be: mounted to the roll cage be out of the way easy to use not distracting to the driver and most importantly... CHEAP! So the only setup that had both red & white LEDs to mount to a rollbar, was $130.. I dont think so tim... So I began studying LED mCd vs viewing angle ratings, and figured out what I would need to get it correct... I ordered some LED bars, got a SPDT center off switch, and then began fabricating a box to enclose them to help prevent glare towards the driver.. Here's what it looks like... And examples of the lighting output in my car (Not the rally car) White Red The white is a little more concentrated than I would like, but it doesnt matter because it will only be used when off stage, when its not as bouncy, and the concentrated light can more easily be used. Currently the sides are just taped on for mock up.. Tomorrow i'll spot weld it all in place with brackets... I need to notch one of the sides for wires... Or, be really bling and drill a hole and put a little grommet in there...
