Hey guys, Im looking to pick up a set of wheels for a 78 Trans Am. We upgraded the brakes and suspension so stock wheels dont really work. The problem is that I dont want to spend a big chunk of change without making sure the wheels fit without rubbing or cutting.
I had town fair tire come out and make the measurements but they will not guarantee it wont rub. They basically said "you have to pay thousands of dollars on a nice set of wheels and if our measurements are wrong and the wheels rub, your stuck with the wheels"
Does anyone know of a wheel shop in Mass, RI, or NH that might have decent "on location" stock of wheels that I might be able to test fit some 18's or 19's to make sure they wont rub. I figured Town Fair being one of the bigger wheel shops in Mass would be the best. I guess not. They pull all their stuff from a warehouse in CT.
Thanks, Nick

Hey man. I don't know where abouts you are from but try giving hi-tech auto salon a call. I believe they're in cranston or warwich R.I (I can't remember which town). I used to deal with them a bit when I lived out there for college, some pretty good dudes. Worth giving them a call about your issue at least. EDIT: Yeah it's deff the warwick shop I used to go to. Here's the link with address/phone number. www.realhitech.com

did you try www.tirerack.com or www.discounttiredirect.comThey make tire and wheel packages for a bunch of specific models I don't know if they carry info to way back into the 70's but it's worth a try and discount tire = free shipping.

im sure if you go to a good performance shop, they will be more than willing to measure out a set of wheels that WILL fit..
Town fair is a bunch of goobers that have no clue what they are doing.
