just curious how fast you guys are going to need all this equipment.... i'm aware of the reputation of cannonball and gumball, but since this is smaller, and with less publicity, are people as wreckless?

I have not participated in the New England rally before, but I have done some spirited driving with friends. You can still have fun/spirited driving without being stupid/reckless.
An update on the equipment.
I've found a deal on Pioneer AVIC-Z2's, so instead of getting a garmin 760 I will most likely get the double DIN unit ;D And the laser interceptor is hard to find online, so I will be going with either a Blinder M45 or Laser Pro Park.

Things got a little hairy for a few of us becuase of my dumb ass getting lost. Go figure a guy from ohio that can't navigate the roads in NH. Its like a freakiin Labyrinth up there..
But I did buy a radar detector, and a TomTom Go 720.. so I should be a ok this year heh.
My cell wouldn't work for crap up there either.. hmm.

I was considering the FLEER or one of the raytheon imagers. They are just soooo expensive. I am going to make a trip by Hummer though to see what they will run me.

well, i know guys bring laptops, but i would think that if you're going as far as having multiple GPS, scanners, and detectors, you're in pretty deep, so why not have a carPC built so that you can have your GPS, google earth, wifi, spreadsheets, engine diagnostics, cameras, scanners, and entertainment all in one package. your navigator can manage each with just a trackball. just seems like it would be a convienent all in one unit. for instance, guys run multiple scanners to get all the frequencies, but a PC based one can have an unlimited number of frequencies saved. if you want multiple GPS antennas so you're never out of range of any particular one, you can have those and only one screen to look at. all this is probably within the calculating power of an iPhone too, so size is moot. also, everything is compact and hidden, so if you do get pulled over, there's no scrambling to toss the scanner in the back seat and pull the V1 off the windshield.
