That's actually not a bad ride.

It is a gorgeous ride.
I did some work up there a couple of years ago and it is a GREAT ride. However if I was to go to the rally ( and God knows I've thought about it many times...), I would take the "cat" out of Portland directly to Yarmouth. It saves you at least 3 or 4 hours.

Speed Channel usually airs a wrapup of Targa Newfoundland - watch for it if you get it.
20% of the 2200km is "Targa" stages. that is: closed roads, competitive driving.

I've just watched about 6 videos from the Targa. This is now on the must do list for the future.

I hear ya Dimitri! If win the powerball tonight I'll sign us both up : ) Some of the other videos from this years rally showed a section of a stage run right through a condo complex parking lot, what ever cars didn't move before the rally just got caution tape run over heir hoods. The competitors were literally running flat out about 2 ft from parked cars through the lot.

I watched one that was like driving through an old seaport town. It was crazy. Streets wide enough for 1 car with sharp curves and turns running all out. That would be so much fun. I'm confident that I could drive those streets well.
Some day I'll be able to afford it.

I HAVE to do this next year. My car is ready to go, now all I need is $$$$$ A LOT of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ How much cash do you need? If I sponsor you I want my name on the car in some (maybe big) extent. In any case, what level of $$$ would you need?

well right off the bat its $5495 for entry fee + gas + gas and food to and from the event.
I'd figure 10-12k should be enough to do the event comfortably.

Also, it's a 6 day rally. The last I knew you were limited to only 4 extra tires total for the whole race (I could be wrong but if I am, then its only TWO and not four tires). The stages get harder and harder as the days progress. Tires come into play as the days progress as you will come very close to burning up all your spares before you finish, which leads to some pretty spectacular "offs" as the cars loose traction due to burned out tires.

I know of another sponsorship opportunity ;D lol What is your business Dale? (Just curious) No business, just me and the wife... It'd be really cool to have a Targa car riding around with our names on it. I could always set-up a "nothing" business with a cute name.

lol you're out of your mind Dale. Sponsor a car just to see your name on it. That's a riot.
Sean, I bet tires are a big issue on that run. I'd bet I could talk the tire warehouse into sponsoring a car with 6-8 tires.
