I used to have one of those double sided-foam pads that was really sticky and sandwiched it between my camera and the dash.
It has since lost its effect and was tossed out.
Now I can't find a replacement.
Was the cheapest thing out there (free) and worked pretty well except for a full throttle takeoff - yes, I caught the camera in time!
Tried a tripod/bipod... no good...
What do you folks use?
Freehand results are just annoying...

I have a web camera velcroed and electrical taped to the underside of my radar detector. It works great.

Mine was mounted on the back dashboard of the car... Made a homemade mount... Worked fairly well... Could have used a gusset to stiffen it a bit...

I built a cam mount that went across the rear seat brackets, works great!

I have a web camera velcroed and electrical taped to the underside of my radar detector. It works great. Velcro & duct tape. True New England spirit! I like it. There isn't anything in the back deck of the stang to bolt it to. Unless I unscrew my speakers... not like I can hear them anyway! Of course then I (or my navigator) can't adjust the picture en route. Maybe I can figure out a dash mount of some kind braced to my center console. SOHC

are your seats one piece or do you have headrest bars? There are a few DIY's that I have seen that mount off the headrest bars.

Wait... You have an '06 but no LATCH system in the back for child seats? Thats what I did was unbolt the LATCH clip and installed the camera mount to that.

Are you talking about those pads to hold like your phone or iPod? I have seen those at target & Staples.

EDIT: I took pics too.. Well, if I mount it in the back to the package tray, I can't possibly reach it. (Maybe disguising a video camera in a box of tissues woud work! LOL) Can you hook up a web-cam to simply record to a hard drive? I'm going to look harder at Staples the next time I'm there for that sticky pad thing. SOHC

That looks great. Whats wrong with that? Nothing, that is the effect I was looking for. I just have a little trouble holding the camera on the dash without that foam pad. LOL I'm surprised how steady my stang is at speed. Even over bumps. My old Torino was always shaking and vibrating... 429 CJ... even sitting still, it wasn't sitting still. Does the new style strut suspension really make that much difference over the old "A" arms? Or are these engines better balanced? How are your cars? I know you guys put a lot of $$ into suspension work, are ride quality & handling affected inversely of each other? Is there a break-even point? Better handling & better ride. I do 90% highway driving so I have a lot of questions for you experts. SOHC

This day and age you should video tape getting pulled over! Is that legal? I mean, it makes sence. They are recording you, why can't you record them? You are still in your vehicle. I wonder if that's ever become an issue? Interesting thought. SOHC

I have seen cops on video getting pissed that there being video'd...legal, not legal...doesn't really matter until you get caught!
As for suspension, I have no clue, I dropped my car and it is great, tight corners and stuff but I have to get it tuned by someone who knows what there doing.

I'd love to lower my pony, but I live on a dirt road. Bad enough I can scrape the bottom in the winter months at the stock height. How are those "low-riders" set up? Maybe I could find someone to set me up with air shocks or something so I can get up my road and into my garage if I lowered my car 1.5" ? Right now she handles OK, but nothing special. I can slide her around on the turns and my wife DOESN'T like it when I get the tires squealing in a 4 wheel drift. Breaks loose too early for my taste (front end breaks loose first and just plows straight ahead). Not sure what I should do there, I think wider tires would just compound the problem by widening the contact patch and lowering the amount of weight PSI on the road... Or will the added grip outweigh the reduced contact pressure? Front end feels too light. SOHC

The problem with an air ride suspension is you add a LOT of weight to the vehicle, and there are a ton of things that can go wrong, tubes, connectors, compressor to name a few.
I have a full coilover set on my RSX it dropped it about 2 inches, I have only scrapped my muffler one time over an outlandishly large speed bump.
As for loosing traction on the front end, Tires Tires Tires, not just wider but also sticker, stock tires are only rated for stock driving, when you start to push those limits, you need to upgrade.

You're definitely right on the stock tires.
I have BFGoodrich Traction T/A Spec 215/65-16.
They are REALLY bad in the rain too.
The rims are only 6" wide I believe, so I would need to upgrade those as well.
I want to go to 17" or 18" but I hear a lot of talk about upsizing slowing down the vehicle.
I always thought the tire (and 35 PSI of air) weighed more than the extra rim size.
Keeping the same stock height I could go to 8" rims in front and 9" in back and get 2"-4" of tread in the corners.
Not sure of a good tire / rim that won't break the bank.
Stock GT Bullitt's with Pirrelli's run about $650 but are only 1/2" wider than the V6.

#1. If your car plows, it is understeer... While tires help, they also hide the problem. The correct way to fix this is by upgrading your front swaybar. #2. Lowering the car can also help with understeer because it will change the body roll of the car, and lower the car's center of gravity. #3. Air shocks wont work on most newer cars unless you do an Air Ride system, which you don't really want to do as it is $$$$ for a GOOD setup. #4. Upsizing wheels only slows you down if it is a heavier rolling diameter. Rotational mass is key. If you switch from a cast 16" wheel with a big heavy tire to a lightweight aluminum 17" wheel with the same rolling diameter, but lighter tire, you will gain speed, as you are changing the rotational mass of the car. #5. There are many reasons the newer cars shake less than the older cars. They have more noise insulation which hides the shakes, better & more motor/transmission mounts, better balanced motors with more harmonic dampeners/balancers, and better balanced drivetrains. #6. In most cases, changing the suspension on your car to improve handling will sacrifice ride quality. Unless you buy a car like my STi, that already rides like a mack truck.. An Aftermarket suspension will make the car ride BETTER... I think thats it for now... Next question please.
